In this stage, the real work begins resulting in a working laboratory. We can fully assist with this as your laboratory project manager, so you don't need to worry about it.
A. Supply
Transport comes with many rules and regulations. In this phase, all parties know exactly what to provide and the client knows exactly what to receive. For the reason that the supply comes with many rules and regulations, we use the Incoterms as our standard. This clearly defines the risk and cost for each party.
To ensure that the client receives what they have ordered we can offer various services such as:
Factory Acceptance Test (FAT)
- Packing and Marking
- Open Package Inspection (OPI)
- Documentation check (Packing List, certificates, drawings, etc)
- Functionality checks
- many more possibilities; to be discussed and agreed upon.
Finally, when the Client (or assigned inspector) is satisfied we will receive an Inspection Release Notification (IRN). As a result, the IRN is basically the “green light” to proceed with the shipment.
Consequently, we can make arrangements with the forwarders (shipping companies). We will be able to fine-tune the export and import documentation (Certificate of Origin, Packing List, Bill of Lading etc.).
This, of course, is in close cooperation with the client to ensure a smooth transition to the final destination.
As a result of our long time experience with the supply, we have transport document templates available or can certainly use yours when available.
B. Installation
Every project is different but each project requires the flexibility of the team. For the reason that we need to take steps forward instead of standing still. This is exactly what we strive to be; flexible and problem-solving.
Labs31 will provide a team of technicians, engineers, supervisors, project managers, etc. Depending on the contractual agreement made.
The following activities are identified in the installation process and for each activity, Labs31 can provide services:
Unloading of container/truck/boxes
- Checking of material against packing list.
- Verify if the material is not damaged.
- Ensure that material will be brought to the assigned location.
Unpacking of the material
- Checking of material against packing list.
- Verify that all items are undamaged.
- Ensure that items will be placed in the right location and as per storage procedures.
Installation (Supervision) of Furniture / Gas Network
- Installation is being done by specialists (preferably from the manufacturer).
- The Foreman of the installation team reports to our Supervisor.
- The supervisor will process documentation (progress report, timesheets, permits, etc.).
- The supervisor will steer the team to meet the project schedule.
Installation (Supervision) of Electra / Data
- Installation is being done by qualified Electricians using the correct tools.
- The Foreman of the Electrical team reports to our Supervisor.
- The supervisor will process documentation (progress report, timesheets, permits, etc.).
- The supervisor will steer the team to meet the project schedule
Installation (Supervision) of Equipment
- Installation is being done by the Labs31 team; for some equipment the manufacturer’s specialist.
- The supervisor will process documentation (progress report, timesheets, permits, etc.).
- The supervisor will steer the team to meet the project schedule.
C. Training & Commissioning
Finally, we have reached the phase where all material has been put on its location, however, we need to ensure that they are functioning properly.
Commissioning procedures are executed to check good working order.
Depending on the experience of the chemists and their familiarity with the standards and equipment we can assist with training.
Type of training
- Familiarization training. Based on the installation of equipment and showing that it works. Consequently, the laboratory staff shall have already a high level of experience with this test and equipment.
- Detailed training. Based on the installation of the equipment and explaining how the equipment works to your laboratory staff. Therefore the laboratory staff shall have at least general (scientific) and laboratory knowledge.
- Method training. Based on the installation of the equipment and training of your laboratory staff on how to perform the defined method. This will start with the preparation of the sample up to the measured value.
Hand-over
Finally, after the installation of the material and the training, it is time to hand over (or part of) the laboratory to the client. This is also referred to as commissioning.
In an earlier stage, it has been agreed upon how this process will be done. By using our (or clients) documents we go through this commissioning phase. As a result to ensure that we hand over a good working laboratory to the client.
